ooty The Thread Garden located in front of the Boat House in Nilgiri district of India attracts tourists with its unique style. This garden has a wonderful collection of hand-crafted artificial flowers, plants and other structures, which have been decorated like natural beauty. This thread garden has been created with hard work of almost 20 years. In 1988, a team of 50 women under the leadership of Professor Antony Joseph prepared these flowers, in which no machine or needle was used. Every flower and leaf is hand woven with thread, which makes this art very special.

Unique Collection of Ooty Yarn Garden
Ooty Yarn Garden has a wonderful collection of artificial flowers and plants. All this is the result of 12 years of effort by Anthony Joseph and his team of 50 people. She used a unique ‘four dimensional hand embroidery’ technique, using bare fingers to create these amazing creations. About 6 crore meters of embroidery thread has been used in making this garden. Initially this garden was located in Malampuzha, Kerala, but in 2002 it was shifted to Ooty in front of the Boat House. Here tourists get to see 350 types of beautiful artificial flowers.

Unique Materials and Decorations
Cardboard, steel and copper wire were used to create this beautiful scene. Flower petals were made by wrapping threads in different colors. This unique construction has also been recorded in India Book of Records, Tamil Nadu Book of Records and Unique World Records.

Special attractions for tourists
This thread garden of Ooty is not only for seeing but also for buying. From here tourists can take these amazing handicrafts home. Pradeep, who works in the garden, said that 50 women had put in a lot of hard work to build this garden and it took 12 years to build it. The entry fee here is Rs 30 for adults and Rs 20 for children.
