Till the 54th match of the tournament, 960 sixes have been hit. Today on Monday, there is a match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, which will be the 55th match of IPL 2024. If 40 sixes are hit in this match then 1000 sixes of IPL 2024 will be completed.
There is a record of maximum number of 42 sixes hit in a match in IPL 2024. This record was made on 26 April in the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings. In this match, 18 sixes were hit by KKR, in response to which Punjab Kings hit 24 sixes. In IPL 2024 itself, 38-38 sixes have been hit in the Hyderabad vs Mumbai and Hyderabad vs Bengaluru matches.
Most sixes in Naren’s name
The record of hitting most sixes in IPL 2024 is in the name of Sunil Narine. The KKR all-rounder has hit 32 sixes in 11 matches. Heinrich Klaasen has scored 31, Abhishek Sharma has scored 38. These batsmen of Sunrisers Hyderabad are at second and third place in terms of hitting most sixes. Shivam Dubey of Chennai Super Kings has hit 26 sixes and Riyan Parag of Rajasthan Royals has hit 25 sixes.
Virat Kohli at number six
Virat Kohli has often been criticized in IPL 2024 due to his slow strike rate. But this batsman of Royal Challengers Bangalore is ahead of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant in terms of hitting most sixes in the tournament. Kohli has hit 24 sixes in 11 matches. Rishabh Pant is also on par with Virat by hitting 24 sixes. After him among the Indian batsmen are Dinesh Karthik (19) and Rohit Sharma (19). Suryakumar Yadav has hit 12 sixes and Hardik Pandya has hit 10 sixes. Dhoni has 9 sixes in his name.
Longest six in the name of Karthik
The longest six of IPL 2024 is in the name of Dinesh Karthik. He hit a 108 meter six against Sunrisers Hyderabad. DK had hit this six on the ball of T Natarajan. The second highest six of the tournament is in the name of Heinrich Klaasen. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s African batsman Klaasen hit a six of 106 meters against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Record in the name of Will Jacques also
Will Jacques holds the record for hitting most sixes in an innings in IPL 2024. Will Jacques of Royal Challengers Bangalore hit 10 sixes in an innings against Gujarat Titans. Will Jacques also completed his century with a six.
